New Book by an alumna, Dr Rachel Bird!

Rachel, who’s just published her PhD(🎉!!) tells us about a recent event under the auspices of our research group, KYKNOS, which studies ancient narrative literature:

‘I was very happy to celebrate the publication of my book Sophrosune in the Greek Novel: Reading Reactions to Desire with staff and students (both past and present) from the Department of Classics, Ancient History and Egyptology and with friends of the KYKNOS research group at a virtual book launch on 10 December 2020. As I completed all of my academic studies at Swansea, with a BA (Hons) Classical Civilisation in 2011, MA in Ancient Narrative Literature in 2012, and a PhD in Classics awarded in 2016, it was a pleasure to discuss the book and answer questions about my academic life and the publication process. It was also a lovely opportunity to express my gratitude for all the support I’ve received over the years from the department and from KYKNOS. The event was fun, despite our inability to meet in person, and was a reflection of the camaraderie enjoyed at all the previous KYKNOS events that I’ve attended! More information regarding the book, which is published with Bloomsbury Academic, can be found by following this link.’
